Our promise, in plain English
- ✓ We do not sell your personal data. Ever. Not to advertisers, not to data brokers, not to anyone.
- ✓ We do not share your data with third-party advertisers or marketing networks.
- ✓ We do not run third-party ad trackers on the site.
- ✓ Your reading history is yours. We use it only to personalize your feed inside ClearNews.
- ✓ You can delete your account and data at any time from Settings.
Cavin Capital Group, LLC ("we", "us"), the operator of ClearNews, is the data controller for the personal data we collect through the ClearNews app and website. This notice explains what we collect, why, and your rights.
Data We Collect
- Account data: email, display name, login credentials.
- Preferences: topics you follow, saved articles, onboarding choices.
- Usage & telemetry: device info, IP address, pages viewed, error logs.
- Support messages: anything you send us.
How We Use It
- To create your account and provide the Service (contract performance).
- To personalize your feed and remember your preferences (contract performance).
- To prevent fraud, abuse, and security incidents (legitimate interests).
- To improve the product and respond to support requests (legitimate interests).
- To comply with legal obligations.
Who We Share It With
We do not sell, rent, trade, or share your personal data with third-party advertisers, marketers, or data brokers. We share data only with the limited set of providers required to actually run the Service:
- Stripe — our payment processor, who handles subscription billing, payment method storage, tax calculation, and invoicing. Payment card data is collected directly by Stripe and never touches our servers.
- Infrastructure subprocessors — hosting, database, AI inference, and error monitoring providers acting on our instructions under written data-processing agreements. They may not use your data for their own purposes.
- Authorities — only where required by valid legal process.
What We Do Not Do
- We do not sell your personal data.
- We do not share data with third-party advertisers or ad networks.
- We do not allow third-party tracking pixels or behavioral ad trackers on the Service.
- We do not use your reading history to target you with ads on other sites.
Data Retention
We keep account data while your account is active and delete or anonymise it within a reasonable period after account closure, except where retention is legally required.
Security
We use industry-standard technical and organisational measures including encryption in transit, access controls, and least-privilege permissions.
Your Rights
Depending on your jurisdiction, you may have the right to access, correct, delete, restrict, port, or object to processing of your personal data, and to withdraw consent. Contact us through the app to exercise these rights. UK/EEA users may also lodge a complaint with their supervisory authority.
International Transfers
Our infrastructure may be located outside your country. Where personal data leaves the UK/EEA we rely on appropriate safeguards (e.g. Standard Contractual Clauses).

We use essential cookies to operate the Service (login session, preferences) and limited analytics cookies to understand usage.
